Renee and I took a seven night cruise to Alaska, via the Inside Passage, in mid August. It was my first cruise and believe it or not, I enjoyed it completely. We then spend seven additional days with the cruise line on a land based tour of Alaska. We would Not Recommended this option and will not do it again. It would have been better money spent renting a car and finding our own motels.
I spent seven additional days with ten other photographers, all the way inside Denali National Park. The weather was much warmer than normal, so the animal sightings were less than expected by our leader, but we had five full days without clouds in front of Denali. We were so lucky. Five percent of Denali visitors see all of Denali, thirty percent see only a part of it, and the remainder never see it at all due to the heavy cloud cover.
